What is safety? The dictionary defines it as “freedom from harm of risk and secure from threat of danger, harm or loss.” The meaning of safety on the job means prevention and elimination of harm or risk to each individual employee. Safety is a very real situation especially when an accident happens to you, your family, friends, or co-workers. Most accidents can be prevented.


Company Policy

Modern Poured Walls, Inc. has committed to a comprehensive safety policy in that the objective of the Company is to provide a continuous safe work environment for all employees. Modern Poured Walls, Inc. recognizes that safety is our primary objective and we shall use as our guidelines the State of Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation and the U.S. Department of Labor O.S.H.A. Regulations.

Safety Committee

In order to achieve the President’s Company goals regarding safety,  MPW formed and empowered the Safety Committee to train, educate and establish guidelines with the help of active employees to achieve the goal of the safest possible work environment.  MPW's Safety Committee is strongly committed to the prosperity and longevity of the Company and its employees. The committee's goal is to maintain the reputation of producing a quality product while striving to improve the overall condition of the work environment.  This collective effort of raising awareness, providing training, and setting good safety standards in the industry will continue to keep concrete construction safer for MPW employees and the general public.  At MPW, we encourage our employees to accept full responsibility for their own safety and for the safety of their fellow employees.

Drug-Free Workplace (DFWP)

Ohio's Bureau of Workers' Compensation DFWP program is an incentive program designed to help employers establish a safer and more cost-effective workplace. In July of 2004, MPW joined hundreds of other Ohio employers choosing to keep our employees safe and reduce the chance of an accident caused by substance use. The voluntary DFWP program encourages employers to detect and deter substance use and misuse, and take appropriate corrective action.

Note: While participation in DFWP for most employers is voluntary, construction contractors and subcontractors are required to have a drug-free workplace program (a BWC program or comparable program) to bid on or
work a state-administered construction contract/project.

::  The most common accident at construction sites is falls, either on the same level or from height. More fatalities occur from falls than any other construction activity.

::  47% of serious workplace accidents and 40% of fatal workplace accidents have drug and/or alcohol involvement.
