Ensuring that the biggest investment in your life stays Dry is our goal, Guaranteed. Contrary to popular belief, guaranteeing a dry basement has more to do with using a system approach than just applying a membrane and board to the foundation.

There are three main pieces to guaranteeing a dry Basement:

1. Providing adequate drainage at the footing of the foundation. Using a 4” round perforated pipe or a form a drain, placed along side of the footing, with clean stone underneath and on top with connections to the sump pump or draining to daylight is the first piece to ensure dry living space in the basement.


2. The second piece is to use the appropriate waterproofing system. At Modern Poured Walls we use the product Tuff-N-Dri. With Tuff-N-Dri, we are applying the top rated membrane spray on the market for resisting hydrostatic pressure. Not only does the membrane resist hydrostatic pressure, it also has the capability to span cracks in the foundation when they occur. To protect the membrane that is sprayed on the wall, we will place a Warm-N-Dri board directly over the membrane. This board provides two functions: 1. Protect the membrane during backfill, 2. Provide insulation to the foundation to increase the R-value of the foundation.


3. The third piece and just as important, is to ensure that there is positive drainage away from the foundation during backfill and final grade on the house. To provide positive drainage from the house is as simple as making sure that any rainwater that falls to the ground runs away from the foundation and not towards it causing water to lay against the foundation.
